Calling all graduate students!

Now is the time when current BBUGS committee chairs and members may step down if they choose, and we are very grateful for their time and commitment over the past year.  Many of the events you attended (such as the fall picnic, a variety of seminars, technique symposium, and social events) would not be possible without the dedication of these graduate students.

We are now seeking graduate students who are interested in becoming involved
this year.  Below you will find a brief description of each committee and if you
are interested in being a part of any of these, please e-mail the contact
provided.  If you would like to take a more active role, a few committees are seeking new co-chairs (professional development, research, education and outreach, and communications)!  Each committee has at least one co-chair already for the upcoming year, so you will not have to be in charge alone.

I am just including samples of events that each committee did this
past year, but of course we are open to new ideas, so if you would like to see
something else happen, get involved!  We look forward to working with many of
you to make this next year a great one.

Dear Graduate Students,

On May 19th, Georgia Tech will be hosting a party out in the quad for around 300-500 people for the BIO conference that will be in town.  We are looking for 30 volunteers to work the event that evening in three hour shifts 4:00pm- 7:00pm and 7:00pm to 10:00pm.  The event itself is from 6pm-9pm.

Who is invited? Faculty and business professionals from around the state and across the country.

What is in it for you? An invitation to Tech’s largest party which will provide you networking opportunities and a good meal.

What will you be asked to do? There is a wide variety of things that we will need people to do from directing visitors, to registering people as they come in, to moving tables and chairs, to riding shuttles so that the shuttle drivers do not get lost, and posting signs around campus.

Please let me know if you are available, which shift you have a preference for and if you have any physical restrictions: megan.mcdevitt@ibb.gatech.edu

Thanks in advance for your help.
Meg
