“Monsanto’s Technology organization is a multi-functional, multi-crop organization comprised of the five broad areas of Biotechnology, Breeding, Breeding Technology, Regulatory, and Chemistry.  The research and development these groups collaborate on is based on an unmatched technology platform of chemistry, biochemistry, genomics, biotechnology, and plant breeding.  The company’s R&D pipeline has a proven track record of products that are proprietary, first to market, and profitable.

Janet Hogan, HR Lead in the Technology organization at Monsanto Company, will be on campus to discuss career opportunities within Technology. Specifically, she will highlight a new rotational program that will engage incoming scientists in cross-functional training across three different areas of the organization over a 3 year period (e.g. Biotechnology, Breeding and Breeding Technology). This program is targeted to top talent who are recent PhD or Post-Doctoral graduates educated in one of the areas including, but not limited to, Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, Crop Science, Toxicology, Plant Pathology, and Plant Biology.  The purpose of this cross-functional experience is to broaden scientists’ understanding of the business and strategy so they can help deliver on Monsanto’s commitments while cultivating and enhancing their own leadership skills.

The Division of Solid and Fluid Mechanics of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health, Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories has an opening in Silver Spring, MD for a mechanical, materials, or biomedical (with mechanics and materials science concentration) engineer.  Experience with orthopedic or cardiovascular devices is highly desirable.  We are seeking people with expertise in solid mechanics, fatigue and fracture mechanics, experimental mechanics, materials science and engineering and forensic analyses of failed components.  We highly value laboratory experience including forensic analyses and experience with designing and constructing test fixtures.  We will consider candidates at the M.S., and Ph.D. levels, though preference will be given to Ph.D. level candidates.  The positions involve approximately 50% laboratory research and 50% consulting support for reviews of new medical devices and analyses of failures with existing devices.  U.S. citizenship and excellent speaking and writing skills are required.
