INDUSTRY COMMITTEE MISSION/GOALS
FALL 2008 EVENTS
Industry Site Visit
Every fall a small group of students visits a local biotechnology/medical device company. Students get first hand exposure to the manufacturing, research, and testing facilities in addition to an overview of the company and its competitive strategies. Space is limited and preference will be given to active committee participants.
Industrial Partners Symposium
This annual meeting between Georgia Tech, Emory University, & members of the Educational Partners Program allows students to present their research to industry representatives who provide helpful feedback in an informal setting. Students also get exclusive interaction with industry through the Educational Partners Breakfast where students and industry representatives discuss important issues in biomedical industry.
SPRING 2009 EVENTS
Learn about Industry From the Experts (LIFE) Short Course
This biennial seminar series introduces students to the events that occur within industry such as the process of bringing a product from research and design to the market.
ONGOING EVENTS
Industrial Internship Program
Graduate students (typically in their first or second year at Georgia Tech) spend approximately 12 weeks working on varied projects such as materials testing, scale-up, reverse engineering at participating companies.
