POSITION SUMMARY: The Georgia BioEd Institute is seeking a computer science undergraduate or graduate intern to work on a database for a small non-profit, specifically in the education space. Utilizing Microsoft excel, initially, we would like to manage contacts and program information. The intern would work with the Director of Programming to develop the system. This intern will also be asked to do some basic data entry from program event evaluation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop the back end system, utilizing excel, to manage data associated with programming • Database management, including data entry • Best practices development for ongoing database management/development ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND: Georgia Bio, founded in 1989, is a non-profit, membership-based organization that promotes the interests and growth of the life sciences industry. Members include companies, universities, research institutions, government groups and other industry associations involved in discovery and application of life sciences products and related services that improve the health and well-being of people throughout the world. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS • Associate’s degree or higher; Bachelor’s degree preferred • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel software/ Demonstrable excel experience (projects, work experience, etc.) • Preferred Skill: Experience with relational databases (MySQL, etc.) or object-oriented databases • Good understanding of spreadsheet and database management • Ability to work independently • Results oriented • Curious about information, its storage and retrieval in order to further organizational missions
